about

The music came first with this tune. Had fun with the guitar for a while before the lyric stepped forward. I'd been thinking, reading, baking a lot as I figured out different ways to land an answer or "get home."

lyrics

MORE THAN ONE WAY TO GET HOME
I look in your eyes
But I don’t see much
You’re looking down
As I’m looking up
At the places I’ve yet to go
Faces I’m yet to know

But there’s more than one
One way to get home

Been baking a lot
These days
Eggs, honey, and those unbleached grains
I’ve been thinking a lot about so many things
That aroma just takes me away
Well, that sun it rises
Moon it rises
My cakes are rising too
Stakes rise
Hopes rise
And I do hope you’ll come along too

‘Cause there’s more than one
One way to get home

Don’t sleep a lot
I read a lot
Even Shakespeare and Faucault
The quality of mercy
Is not strained
It droppeth from the heavens
Down to all of us below
It’s not strained
It’s twice blessed
It’s not strained
It’s twice blessed
It’s not strained
It’s twice blessed

‘Cause there’s more than one
One way to get home

Joy it brings miracles
It don’t steal your life
Like fear can do
Joy it brings miracles
It can make things all around you
Feel brand new
Well that sun it rises
Moon it rises
Cakes are rising too
Stakes rise
Hopes rise
And I do hope you’ll come along too
‘Cause there’s more than one,
One way to get home
More than one,
One way to get home
More than one,
One way to get home
Way to get home
Sweet home
Hmm Hmm
